BEFORE I ASKED TO BE CHOSEN

I wanted to be chosen.
But before I asked someone to choose me, I had to ask myself a harder question:

Was I ready to be the woman beside him?

I was never afraid of his love.
I was afraid of myself.

Afraid that the unfinished parts of my life would become a burden to someone I loved. Afraid that I would enter a marriage still carrying wounds I had not learned to understand. Afraid that, in wanting to be loved, I might forget the One I was supposed to return to first.

So I stopped.

Not because I did not want him.
Not because I doubted his heart.
