Vows of the French Quarter
An Elijah Mikaelson × Viktoria Erikkson Story
A canon-rooted alternate retelling of The Originals Season One.
Viktoria Erikkson was never a Mikaelson by blood. She belonged at their table. Maria, a witch and Esther's friend, was her mother. Erik, Ansel's beta, was her father. He favored Klaus. A private marriage was planned. Maria saw the claim and favored Elijah, because he could hear a no. She did not say it in Esther's house.
Rebekah was her closest friend. Klaus was the first lesson: an evening he called choosing. Viktoria left when she learned the bill. She chose Elijah. Klaus heard the refusal. Elijah was not safer, not better, and not a consolation.
Henrik died. Maria called an old promise. Esther kept it inside the one immortality spell. Viktoria drank Tatia's blood with them and woke the first unbound female hybrid. Mikael then killed Ansel, Erik, and Maria. She'd been turned. Survival did not save them.
In 1512 Esther's spirit took her. The unbound wolf and the choice already made were, to Esther, a fracture to correct. European bloodlines held the working. Roads bent. Viktoria lived anyway: languages, weapons, paintings, lovers, a woman in France who mattered and died, years as a wolf. She hunted the lines. When the last fell, the road stopped fighting.
New Orleans. Marcel's city. Witches under the streets. Hayley, carrying Klaus's child, pointed toward Jackson. Family, not a romance. Rebekah meets her with fury and an embrace. Klaus meets her with suspicion and a want he cannot collect. Elijah meets the woman who chose him after five hundred years.
Reunion does not restore what was stolen. She will not trade his cage for Esther's. This book does not marry them. She is not Tatia. Not Klaus's answer. Not proof Elijah is good. She has come home. Nobody else decides what that means.
