The Pact

Blair McDonnel and Elliott Millon first met when they were in Kindergarten, after Elliott and his family moved in down the street from the McDonnels. Their mothers had been friends in college, where the connection between the families was born. They rode the same bus, had the same teacher, and sat at lunch together every day. They became the best of friends. Completely inseparable.

One sweltering summer day when they were nine, they concoct a ridiculous plan. They make a pact. Outrageous, really, but it was all in good fun at the time. Until it wasn't. Until it got real...very real indeed. Until they're forced to face the reality of making good on that pact, and what it would mean for after.

Do they do it? Or do they chalk it up to some childhood fantasy; built upon popsicles and wild imaginations?

Hi everyone! This is an original work of mine that I had initially written as an assignment for one of my college writing classes a few years ago, but it has since just been sitting on the dusty shelf of my google documents. So, I decided it might be fun to share it on here and see what others think of it!

It's a short story one-shot, but let me know if you'd like something more and I could be persuaded into writing a one-shot blurb of a chapter or two for it!
