Hanni knows exactly how hard she worked to get here.

The degrees, the research, the years spent convincing herself that someday she would walk into a university classroom and feel like she belonged at the front of it.

So when she accepts a position as the youngest professor at Seoul National College, she expects difficult students, intimidating colleagues, and more than a few sleepless nights spent preparing lectures.

She does not expect Kim Minji.

Composed, severe, and impossible to read, Professor Kim seems to notice everything Hanni wishes she wouldn't, the way she fidgets when she's nervous, how quickly her voice softens under pressure, every little mistake she makes when Minji is watching.

At first, it's only corrections.

Stand straight. Speak clearly. Look up when you talk.

Then Minji starts getting closer.

A hand at Hanni's waist in a crowded hallway. A quiet command meant only for her. A look across the faculty table that has Hanni fixing her posture before a single word is spoken.

Hanni should probably be irritated by how easily Minji gets under her skin.

Instead, she starts waiting for it.

And when Minji finally places a contract on her desk-one filled with rules, expectations, and a blank line waiting for Hanni's signature, Hanni has to decide just how far she's willing to follow the woman who's been teaching her to obey from the moment they met.
