At the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, five minutes is nothing.

Five minutes between traumas. Five minutes at the nurses' station. Five minutes stolen over bad coffee before the next ambulance arrives.

When Lindsey first walks into the Pitt, she's not a doctor or a nurse. She's simply there to visit her old Army friend, Jack Abbot. And Robby isn't exactly sure what to make of her. She's confident, cocky,guarded, and clearly carrying a past she doesn't talk about.

He certainly doesn't expect her to become important to him.

But five-minute conversations become longer ones. Stolen glances become something neither of them can ignore, and somewhere between the chaos of the trauma bay, relentless teasing, quiet nights, and motorcycle rides, Lindsey and Robby find something neither of them thought they had time for.

Each other.

But when you've spent your life preparing for everything to go wrong, letting yourself believe something could actually go right can be terrifying.

Because sometimes, five minutes is all it takes to change everything.

And sometimes, the person you weren't sure about becomes the person you can't imagine losing.
