For eighteen years, Yamila Navarro had believed she knew exactly where she belonged.

Spain was her home.
The Navarros were her family.
And the life she had lived was the only life she had ever known.

She had never questioned the name she carried.

Never wondered why there were no memories from before Spain.

Never asked why certain stories about her childhood always seemed to end before they truly began.

She certainly never imagined that somewhere across the sea, there was a house that had once been hers.

A house that had burned to the ground.

A house where two people had died.

A house where everyone believed a little girl had died with them.

But sometimes the past doesn't disappear.

Sometimes it simply waits in the darkness.

Waiting for someone to turn on the light.

And perhaps that was what claroscuro truly meant.

Not simply light.

Not simply darkness.

But the space between them.

The place where secrets hide.

And where the truth waits to be found.
