Silence Before the Search Party

Spring, 1942. Deep within the mist-veiled valleys of rural Zhejiang, life follows the quiet, grueling rhythm of the agricultural season. For young farmer Lin Zhao, survival means coaxing rice from stubborn earth while evading the shadow of the encroaching Imperial Japanese Army. But that fragile routine shatters entirely when a damaged American B-25 bomber plummets from the sky, tearing a scar across the hillside.

Left behind by the chaos of a desperate retaliatory strike, American navigator Lieutenant Jack Miller is stranded miles behind enemy lines. Injured, freezing, and unable to speak a word of Mandarin, Jack becomes an instant death sentence for anyone caught harboring him. When Lin Zhao and his neighbors stumble upon the wounded pilot, they face an impossible choice: turn him in to avoid annihilation, or risk their homes, their families, and their very lives to conceal an enemy of the state. As search parties close in and local informants grow restless, an unspoken bond forms across a vast language divide-proving that humanity can survive even in the furnace of total war.
