Roses

Every year when the Winter melts away into the Spring a festival is held called the Bouquette. An annual event that drips with the magic and heart stopping beauty that can only be glimpsed through the nature that surrounds us.

Hundreds of flowers can be seen among the decorations with their riot of color a fitting match to the gracefully extravagant outfits the guests can be seen wearing.

That wasn't the reason why a certain young girl named Julietta attended every single year though, no it was something else that kept her coming back.
Something that sparked a long dormant tendril of hope in her chest.

The awe inspiring scenery was only a part of the Bouquette with the gifting ceremony that they held being another spectacular component of an already magnificent display.

One woman, chosen out of a crowd of hundreds, is picked to be the recipient of a glorious bouquet of red roses. The flowers themselves would have been a terrific gift with their glossy scarlet petals and pretty fragrance, but that wasn't all they were.

You see, the roses contain a wish.

One wish for that one special woman that has the blessing of being chosen and it is this very wish that Julietta dreams of every single night.

It would be the answer to everything. A way out of the lonely, loveless life that she endures with her cruel mother and a path to a brighter future. So, without fail she attends hoping that those beautiful roses will be hers.

This year she does exactly as she always has. Attending the Bouquette with that same secret dream, but when she does she ends up receiving something she could never have imagined. Something that could very well change the entire course of Julietta's life.

(This particular "fairytale" came to life from an errant thought about roses one day. I imagined a bouquet while walking outside of my house and then the idea of a magical wish came to me. From that point on the story flowed uncontrollably until it was finished almost 4 months later.)
