Before humanity had a name, the world belonged to the beasts.
In the wild Garden of Helibarai, creatures hunt, hide, fight and survive according to rules older than memory. Among them lives a small prehistoric human ancestor who knows nothing of kingdoms, heroes or the future waiting for his kind.
But everything changes when Proailurus, a mysterious early cat, and another creature discover a strange crystal buried beneath the roots of Helibarai.
When the crystal shatters, its pieces scatter across the world.
Some animals swallow them.
Some become something more than beasts.
And somewhere in the distant future, something even stranger will be born.
The First Human.
He will have no crown. No army. No civilization.
