The Girl Behind The Applause

Seventeen-year-old Aleena Zhao has everything, fame, success, and a life millions would envy.

But behind the cameras, the perfect smile, and a mother who has built an empire around her daughter, Aleena is quietly falling apart.

Then there's Harvey Chang, a nineteen-year-old rapper she barely knows, a ridiculous television show, and a secret she's spent years trying not to think about.

As the lines between what is real and what is performed begin to blur, Aleena finds herself pulled deeper into a world where everyone seems to want something from her.

And sometimes, finding your own voice means risking everything you've been told to protect.
