Sonya Pedersen isn't failing. Her fans are loyal, her music is hers, and her career is exactly where she fought to put it. It just hasn't moved in eighteen months.

The label has a solution: Lookmhee, one of the most sought-after producers in the industry, known for finding the one thing an artist does differently and making the rest of the world finally hear it. Sonya doesn't need to be fixed, and Lookmhee isn't trying to fix her. That misunderstanding would be easier to clear up if they could spend ten minutes in a studio without arguing.

But somewhere between creative disagreements, late-night sessions, unfinished songs, and a manager who finds their constant bickering far too entertaining, they make something neither of them expected. The music works. So do they, although neither is particularly interested in examining that too closely.

Then a harmless behind-the-scenes video finds its way online, and people notice. One clip becomes another. Their arguments become edits, their smallest interactions become theories, and suddenly the public is paying attention to something that was never supposed to be part of the project. When the industry decides their chemistry might be worth more than the album itself, Sonya and Lookmhee are offered a new kind of collaboration, one that has very little to do with music.

For Sonya, saying yes could change her career. For Lookmhee, saying yes means something else entirely. Now they have to convince everyone they're interested in each other without making the mistake of actually becoming interested in each other.

Unfortunately, they're both much better at making music than following instructions. Some things belong on the record. The rest are harder to keep off it.
