In the Empire of Nera, the skies rain fire while the earth hoards water deep within its core. The empire survives through the magic of Diviners-gifted individuals capable of drawing precious water from the depths below. Their mysterious power is closely guarded within the Bright Monarch's Academy, where Diviners are trained in secrecy. Only once their abilities have been established are they distributed throughout the empire's villages and towns, where they siphon the water their people need to survive.

At the bitter edge of the empire lies a small desert village transformed into a remote garrison, serving as Nera's first line of defense against the Divine Republic of Karunhold. Beyond the settlement, an imposing mountain range cuts across the horizon, separating the two empires-and concealing something neither side truly understands.
