In 2085, Earth is ruled by the World of Men, a patriarchal civilization built on male authority. Generations earlier, women created the World of Women to escape centuries of violence and oppression. The World of Men eventually invaded, destroyed their civilization, and erased the truth, rewriting history to portray the women as dangerous and claim that men had liberated them. Captured female scientists were forced to develop revolutionary reproductive technology capable of creating embryos without male involvement and influencing the gender of children. The regime intended to use it to control future generations and make male dominance permanent. Before their civilization was destroyed, approximately one hundred women escaped Earth and founded a new society on a distant habitable planet. Their descendants became known as the Forgotten. They preserved the truth about Earth's history and prepared for their return. In 2085, elite Forgotten women infiltrate the World of Men to locate the stolen technology, expose the government's lies, and overthrow the regime. But Earth is more complicated than they expected. Women appear free, yet their political power, reproductive choices, education, careers, and knowledge of history are carefully controlled. Some men secretly resist the system, forcing the Forgotten to question whether their enemy is men or the ideology of domination itself. When the Forgotten reveal historical evidence of the regime's crimes, rebellion spreads across Earth. They invade, overthrow the World of Men, and defeat its leader, Bob Vince, who attempts to use the reproductive technology to control humanity's future. The Forgotten recover the machine-but now face their greatest dilemma. They can use its power to prevent oppression forever, or surrender it and allow humanity to choose its own destiny. To defeat oppression, must they risk becoming oppressors themselves?
