The slate was supposed to be clean. No Stark tech, no multiverse incursions (for now), no one left who remembers the name Peter Parker. Just a cramped Queens apartment, a hand-stitched suit, and the grinding reality of paying rent on a minimum-wage budget.
Then came Jean Grey.
Fresh off a destructive vendetta against the Department of Damage Control, the people responsible for her sister's death, Jean is volatile, untrained, and entirely off the grid. She isn't some polished candidate for a superhero academy, she's a runaway with the power to level a city block when her temper flares.
After Peter takes a bullet to save her life, and Jean spends agonizing days anchored inside his mind just to keep his lungs breathing, the two find themselves tied together by a bond neither asked for. The immediate crisis is over and the revenge is settled, but living a "normal" life in New York City turns out to be a completely different battleground.
Between dodging leftover government surveillance, handling landlord inspections, preventing telekinetic fires, and figuring out how to buy groceries without starting a street brawl, Peter and Jean are about to learn that starting over isn't the hard part.
It's trying not to ruin the second chance while doing it.
