Vaelorin Pyren isn't kind.
That's a universal truth - or, at least, universal in the Lost Cities. Vaelorin was born as Project Lynx - the Neverseen's version of Project Moonlark, though none of them have ever admitted it.
She works solitary, and though she has many links within the Neverseen, and has joined its ranks in every way that matters, she still hasn't made her vows. Not really. Her father, Fintan Pyren, made sure of it.
Long before Vaelorin was created, Fintan has heard word of humans with magic.
Unbelievable, but there were too many rumours for him to discard the idea.
Then he learned about the Wizarding World - a Ministry of Magic, goblin banks, schools made entirely for teaching magic - and he was determined that, if the Lost Cities became too dangerous for the Neverseen to live in, they would move to this new world.
One unforgettable evening, Fintan reveals to Vaelorin the Wizarding World, and sends her to carve out a place for the Neverseen in this world. lt would be hard, and it would hardly be a mission fit for a normal eleven-year-old.
But Vaelorin was not a normal eleven-year-old - she was the Lynx, with her father's Pyrokinesis and over a dozen abilities that the Neverseen had given her.
But when she arrives at Hogwarts with a forged letter, she sees a world without the injustices she's known all her life. No Neverseen. No Black Swan. No rival rebels. No matchmaking. No bad matches. And most importantly, no abilities. She's stunned at how easy Hogwarts seems, after countless struggles in the Lost Cities. And when she hears that she's supposed to take over the Wizarding World - not just carve out a space for them - destroying the harmony, she's afraid that she's met the one thing she can't do.
Will Vaelorin obey the only family she has ever known? Or will she choose her new friends over loyalty?
