Kale has never been special. Just a weak, bookish college student who'd rather lose himself in old pages than deal with people - content to live quietly under his aunt Diana's roof.
Then he finds a book that shouldn't exist.
Out of curiosity more than belief, he performs the ritual described inside - no proper catalyst, just a single drop of his own blood. It shouldn't have been enough.
Something answers anyway.
A young man appears before him: black hair, red eyes, and an air of something ancient wearing a human shape. Kale calls him Kit.
Then the sky speaks.
"In nine days, the gates will open."
Demons are coming, and the only thing standing between humanity and annihilation are the Vessels - ordinary people bound to Eidolons, beings not of this world.
Kale never asked to be one of them. He never asked for any of this.
But he didn't ask to fall for his Eidolon, either - and it's far too late to take that back.
Some monsters come to destroy you.
His came to ruin him in an entirely different way.
