A trauma surgeon, former military physician, and Ares III mission specialist, she knows how to keep people alive when everything goes wrong. But nothing in her training prepares her for Mars.
When a catastrophic storm forces the Ares III crew to abort their mission, Olivia and botanist Mark Watney are separated from the others and presumed dead. Injured, isolated, and stranded on a planet that offers no margin for error, they are left with a damaged habitat, limited supplies, no way to contact Earth, and years to survive before rescue is even possible.
