He was never supposed to become anything more than her partner.

At twenty years old, Y/N has already earned a reputation as one of the Hidden Leaf Village's most promising young shinobi. Skilled, independent, and carrying secrets from a past she rarely speaks about, she expects her next assignment to be another dangerous mission.

Instead, the Hokage gives her something completely unexpected.

Team 7.

Assigned to work alongside the infamous Copy Ninja, Kakashi Hatake, Y/N suddenly finds herself helping train three newly graduated genin: the loud and unpredictable Naruto Uzumaki, the determined Sakura Haruno, and the distant Sasuke Uchiha.

Kakashi isn't exactly thrilled about having a second shinobi assigned to his team-especially one six years younger than him who isn't afraid to question his methods. Their constant disagreements quickly turn into sarcastic remarks, competitions, and an unspoken determination to get under each other's skin.

But missions have a way of changing people.

As Team 7 begins facing dangers far beyond what any group of genin should encounter, Y/N starts seeing beyond Kakashi's lazy attitude and ever-present mask. Behind it is someone who has lost more than he lets anyone know.

And Kakashi begins realizing that the stubborn young woman assigned to his team isn't someone he can simply keep at a distance.
