Ishani grew up in Manama, Bahrain, in a family that loved her fiercely-and worried about her just as fiercely.

Between constant questions, expectations, academics, and the fear of disappointing the people she loves, Ishani learned one thing early:

Everyone knows how to find Ishani when they need someone.

Almost no one knows what Ishani needs.

Then she leaves Bahrain for university in Bengaluru, determined to build a life of her own.

That's where she meets Arjun.

It doesn't start with a spark.

It starts with an argument over a pen.

Arjun is quiet, observant, annoyingly calm, and far too good at noticing things Ishani would rather keep hidden.

Their friendship grows slowly-through academic arguments, endless conversations, shared ambitions, stupid jokes, small acts of kindness, and a black notebook with a tiny silver star on the cover.

And somewhere between "we're just friends" and "why do I look for him in every room?", something changes.

Arjun falls first.

Ishani falls harder.

But falling in love is easy compared to learning how to stay.

Because Ishani has spent her whole life believing that if people see the real her, they'll eventually leave.

And Arjun has to prove that love isn't about fixing her, saving her, or asking her to become someone else.
