LOVE ABOVE THE CLOUDS

For one year, Elias Mercer will live above the clouds.

Station 7 is the tallest structure on Earth, an isolated tower so high its upper levels disappear into the sky. Elias's assignment is simple: maintain the tower, monitor its systems, and make sure it never stops running.

Nobody will tell him why.

At first, the isolation is exactly what he expects. Endless clouds. Howling wind. Machinery humming through the night. No visitors. No distractions.

Until he finds a frequency on the tower's radio.

And hears a woman's voice.

She is hundreds of miles away, living an ordinary life beneath the same sky he's learned to hate. They don't know each other's faces. They don't know if they'll ever meet. But night after night, they talk.

About everything.

About nothing.

About the lives they've never told anyone else about.

Somewhere between the static and the silence, Elias falls in love with her.

Then the tower begins to change.

Lights appear inside the clouds.

Voices answer transmissions that should be impossible.

Old maintenance records reveal that previous workers heard the same frequency.

And one night, Elias hears his own voice coming through the radio.

The woman on the other end begins to realize something is terribly wrong.

The tower isn't transmitting a signal.

It's keeping one contained.

And whatever is above the clouds has finally learned her name.

Because the sky was never the end.

It was the boundary.
