Peony is an illegitimate child of King Daemon of Kalvares. Although she is a princess, she works as a healer alongside her mother at the castle, for soldiers of the war that has just come to an end with the defeat of Kalvares.
Now Kinsley, the king of Andoria, searches for his compensation for winning the war, and as his personal request asks for Peony's hand in marriage with her departure to Andoria with him the next day.
Filled with questions and doubt, she accepts the prince's proposal, not before her father gives her the impossible command to spy for Kalvares, to know more about the enemy and their secrets.
As she leaves her home to the enemy's territory, she wonders how her father expects to win something he already lost, what he could possibly have planned for the future of Kalvares.
Peony doesn't know which side carries more secrets, which only scares her more.
