Princess Lavinia is seventeen, eighth in line to the throne and already far better at causing problems than behaving like the sort of princess the country expects her to be. Sharp-tongued, stubborn and impossible to keep in line, Lavinia has a habit of doing exactly what she's been told not to, disappearing when she shouldn't and treating royal protocol more like a suggestion than a rule. As the youngest of eight, she has grown up with seven people who know exactly how reckless she can be and still manage to love her for it. They've protected her, covered for her and dragged her out of trouble before the rest of the country could hear about it. But Lavinia is getting older, and with the Crown watching more closely, there will come a point when her siblings can't simply clean up after her.

"You get photographed leaving parties with girls, climbing out of windows, kissing people you met twelve minutes earlier, and apparently that makes you fun. I do it and suddenly I'm cheap. Desperate. A slag. How is that fair?"
The amusement disappeared from my brother's face. "It isn't."
