Valerie Braes knows exactly what she wants from life, success, freedom, and a future far away from poverty.

She grew up knowing that wanting more isn't enough. If she wants the life she's always dreamed of, she has to work for it and she's willing to risk almost anything to get there for her priorities. Valerie doesn't have time for distractions, unnecessary feelings, or people who might get in the way of her plans. She has one goal, and she's determined to reach it, no matter how difficult the road becomes.

Then there's Alessander Catil.

Alessander lives by one simple rule: you only live once. He doesn't take life as seriously as Valerie does. He takes risks, enjoys the moment, and doesn't believe in worrying about a future that hasn't happened yet. To him, life is meant to be lived, not planned down to the smallest detail.

Naturally, Valerie can't stand him. And Alessander? He finds Valerie far too serious, stubborn, and impossible to deal with.

They clash over almost everything. Every conversation becomes an argument, every encounter becomes a competition, and neither of them is willing to admit when the other gets under their skin.

They were never supposed to get along, they certainly weren't supposed to become anything more.

But sometimes, the person you can't stand becomes the person you can't stop thinking about.
