Morally Driven

Ariel spends his days under his father's cars and his nights burning other people's tires on the street. He figures talent and nerve are enough to walk away from any turn.

Then Herman walks in.

A luxury Audi sitting in the shop is too easy a temptation. Ariel takes it out one night, not knowing he's about to meet the man who owns it - the man who runs the bets, the streets, and a network that doesn't operate in daylight. Herman never raises his voice. One mistake is all he needs to put a rope around Ariel's neck and drag him onto his ground.

What Herman doesn't say is that he'd been watching long before that night. That something in the way Ariel drives - the refusing to give, the pushing when he should brake - reminds him of someone he lost years ago and hasn't named since.

But Herman mistakes having Ariel cornered for having him under control. Pressure doesn't break him. It makes him unpredictable. And between threats dressed up as favors and nights neither of them admits to waiting for, the debt starts looking like something else.

Ariel finds out there's a part of him that answers to all of it. That his arrogance is turning into something with an edge. That every line he crosses costs him less than the one before.

By the time he understands Herman never wanted his obedience - only to see how far he could go - someone will be dead because of him, and neither of them will be able to pretend this is still about a stolen car.
