Power Trip (J.Cole x Doja Cat)

The first time Amala Dlamini saw Jermaine Cole, she thought he looked annoying.

The first time Jermaine saw Amala, he thought she looked bored.

Neither of them thought much of it.

Until Monday morning.

Professor Ellis assigns them as partners for the semester's biggest project. They have to write, produce, record, mix, and master a song together.

Amala thinks she works better alone.

Jermaine thinks she's wrong.

She's an R&B-leaning rapper with a habit of doing everything herself.

He's a rapper with a guitar, a notebook full of unfinished verses, and a habit of turning every argument into a creative challenge.

They don't agree on much.

Except that the other one is talented.

And maybe that's where the trouble starts.

Because the more they work together, the harder it becomes to tell where the music ends and their friendship begins.

And by the time they realize they're becoming important to each other, it's already too late to pretend they aren't.
