The cigarette ember flared bright orange as he took a sharp, agitated drag. "What, should I have just left you on the side of the road?" He let the smoke escape his teeth in a jagged hiss. His posture stiffened, the casual arrogance melting away to reveal something much uglier underneath. His voice dropped into a lower, primal octave that cut through the car's stillness. "Or maybe I should have just hit a stupid bitch like you with my car."
