It's Just Me

Jon Tallin entered the Army with one purpose, to find his brother and bring him home.

Miles Tallin had been missing in action for years, leaving behind nothing but a photograph and unanswered questions. Jon had spent years carrying that uncertainty with him, until eventually he decided that waiting wasn't enough.

He would find Miles himself, but the Army doesn't care about personal missions and special operations cares even less.

Jon's surname enters the room before he does. The Tallins are a military family, and their name carries years of service, decorated soldiers, and expectations that Jon never asked for.

He isn't extraordinary, he's smaller than most of the men around him, quieter than they imagined, and nowhere near as proud of his surname as everyone assumes he should be.

He isn't there to continue a family legacy and when the pressure starts becoming too much, Jon has to figure out whether he can keep chasing the brother he refuses to believe is dead without losing himself.

Henry has been the captain of the 120th Delta Force Team for five years.

When he hears that a Tallin has been suggested for his team, he expects a large, confident soldier carrying the kind of arrogance that usually comes with a famous military name.

Henry takes one look at him and wants him gone, he doesn't need another soldier who thinks his surname makes him special, but Jon proves difficult to get rid of, because beneath the quietness, the stubbornness, and the refusal to talk about why he is really there is a soldier who has already decided there is something he will never give up on.

As Jon becomes part of the 120th, Henry begins to realize that getting him to Miles might not be the hardest part.

The harder part may be keeping Jon from destroying himself, because Jon has spent so long believing that finding Miles is the only thing that matters that he doesn't know who he is if that mission is taken away.
