Pae once believed that loving Zei was enough.

They were best friends. They knew each other's habits, silences, and little secrets. For Pae, however, friendship slowly became something more. So he confessed, hoping that the person he had always wanted beside him might finally feel the same.

But Zei only saw him as someone precious, a best friend, a brother, someone he wanted to keep in his life, just not as the person he would build a future with. So Pae learned to live with the answer.

Four years passed.

When they found their way back to each other, they tried to rebuild the friendship they had lost. Old memories returned. Old promises resurfaced. And somewhere between the past they shared and the future they were trying to understand, Pae began believing that perhaps there was still something left to say. There was. He just waited too long to say it.

This time, Pae was certain. He wanted Zei. He wanted the future they once imagined. He wanted the little house they used to dream about. But Zei had already learned how to live without waiting for him. Somewhere, there may be a version of their story where the timing was different. Where the same kind of meeting led somewhere else. Where a goodbye became a beginning instead.

But this is not that story. This is Pae and Zei's.
