Emberwake: The Unwritten

Everyone is given a destiny.

Nyra Vale has spent eighteen years believing she knows hers.

She will become a Skyrunner. She will leave her small life behind. She will finally be free.

But when she stands before the Ember Altar, the gods don't give her the destiny she expected.

Then everything goes still.

JOBLESS.

Before Nyra can understand what that means, her home is destroyed and the life she knew disappears with it.

Forced onto the road, Nyra discovers that being Jobless may be far more dangerous than anyone ever told her. Someone is hunting people like her, the kingdom is tightening its grip, and strange forces seem to recognize something inside her that she can't see herself.

Then there's Renric.

The mysterious prince traveling beside her knows far more about the Jobless than he's willing to admit.

The farther Nyra travels, the more impossible the world becomes. Strange creatures watch her. Her magic refuses to follow the rules. And buried beneath centuries of history is a secret surrounding the Ember Altar that could change everything she thought she knew about her destiny.

Someone wants Nyra.

Someone is hiding the truth from her.

And somewhere beyond the road, a king has his own reason for wanting her found.

And most importantly:

what exactly is Nyra Vale?

Her journey across Aevora has only begun.

And whatever the gods failed to write into her destiny may be the very thing that changes the world.
