We Are the Only Ones Awake

Dreams were weird and made zero sense.

Natasha had always had dreams like that. Like catching bits of a movie but never staying still long enough to see a whole scene. One familiar and famous face would show up quite a bit, unprovoked and completely at random, acting like just another dream NPC.

Except for one time.

A frog.

Picking up a frog in a riverbed had somehow made that entire idea crumble. Now Natasha never knew what to expect whenever she saw her after falling asleep.

Kate Winslet had dreamt about strangers before, but she had never encountered one who claimed to be the one dreaming-and insisted Kate was the stranger in her dream.

The woman was offended.

She insisted this was her dream.

Kate knew better.

Kate knew she was dreaming.

Right?

Natasha was becoming increasingly uncertain as details of the dream began appearing to belong exclusively to Kate's waking life. Everything she thought she understood about dreams went straight off the pier after that.

A chance encounter in a strange, neon-colored dream becomes something neither Kate nor Natasha can explain. They begin finding one another every time, without fail, on a new and impossible dream plane where the line between dreaming and waking grows thinner-and the worlds around them start behaving as though they were never meant to be seen.

There are rules to whatever is happening.

Neither of them knows who made them.

And when one of them wakes, something is left behind.

As their dreams become increasingly intertwined, Kate and Natasha begin to realize something terrifying:

They may not be dreaming alone.

They may be the only ones still awake.
