Some places don't let you leave.
At twenty, Maya Olifant thought she'd already gotten herself into enough trouble.
Then her parents send her away to St. Benedict's, a secluded rehabilitation boarding school for troubled young people with a reputation for discipline, structure and second chances.
What they don't tell her is how difficult it is to leave.
The gates are always locked. The rules control every part of life. Boys and girls are kept apart, movement is monitored, and punishment can be far more severe than anything Maya has ever experienced.
Maya refuses to accept that this is where her life ends.
She starts looking for a way out, but escaping St. Benedict's is only half the problem. The school sits on a vast, isolated piece of land, far from the life she knows, and every attempt to get beyond its walls seems to lead her deeper into the institution's secrets.
Then there's Dane Samuels.
The head boy. The boy who seems to know exactly how St. Benedict's works.
The closer Maya gets to him, the harder it becomes to tell whether he's another obstacle between her and freedom or the one person who might actually help her find it.
Because getting out isn't just about opening the gates.
Maya has to figure out what St. Benedict's is hiding, who she can trust, and how far she's willing to go to make it home.
