For fourteen years, Dara has drawn strangers out of other people's nightmares. She listens, she sketches, and she never lets a witness see her flinch.

Then a detective hands her a case she should have refused. The witness describes a tall man with heavy-lidded eyes, a broken nose, and a scar through his right eyebrow. As the face takes shape under her pencil, Dara realizes she has drawn it a thousand times before, on the pillow beside her.
