Dua Gilbert was born only minutes before Elena, but the similarities end there.

While Elena was treated as the precious daughter, Dua became the child her father considered disposable. He subjected her to years of abuse and brutal training, eventually turning her into something supernatural hunters rarely survive becoming: a Slayer.

Her father made sure she could never have children and trained her relentlessly until she became one of the most dangerous vampire hunters alive.

Dua doesn't hate vampires because she was taught to.

She hates them because she has seen what monsters can do.

But there is one vampire she never expected to meet.

Klaus Mikaelson.

The Original Hybrid.

The monster every supernatural creature has learned to fear.

And the first time Klaus sees Dua, something neither of them understands happens.

He knows immediately.

She is his.

Not in the sense of ownership, but in the strange, supernatural way neither of them can explain.

Dua should kill him.

Instead, she falls in love with him.

And Klaus-who has spent a thousand years believing that love makes people weak-finds himself willing to destroy anyone who tries to hurt her.
