Office hour

Frank Castle doesn't do small talk. Doesn't do favorites. Doesn't stay forty minutes after class for anyone - except for me.

He's ex-military, quiet in a way that makes the whole room quiet with him and he's not supposed to notice the way I sit three rows back watching him teach. He's definitely not supposed to text me "made it home ok?" after walking me to my car for the fourth week in a row.

I tell myself it's nothing. Professors do this. Except professors don't memorize your parking spot. They don't go still and silent when someone else walks you there instead.

Some rules are made to be followed. Some are made to be broken slowly, quietly, one office hour at a time.
