I was never the kind of person who jumped into things without thinking about the consequences. I never dreamed of what could come from some silly mistakes. Two new students come for their 6th year at Hogwarts. Neither of them particularly want to be there. What havoc could a witch and a dark wizard bring to the year? As they both become frustratingly curious about each other, things fall in place that might never have occurred if they had just never met. ... So I started this book because I was bored, and now it's kind of my life accomplishment weirdly enough. It's not perfect and definitely not what it started out as but this fic has parts of my heart and soul in it and I'm proud of how far it's come. "But to see her, I'd go through the gates of Hell with a smile on my face." Veronica Valdez learns in the beginning of the summer that her father has accepted a new job offer. The problem isn't the job itself, but the man he will be working for. She tries to object, but is dismissed as quickly as she opens her mouth. With the change comes a new rule: for "safety reasons," she is no longer allowed to live on her own. Instead, she is sent to spend the summer break in the home of her father's colleague. Her father is relieved when the colleague's son and his friends agree to keep an eye on her. Veronica, however, is less amused by the idea of being babysat. When no one will tell her the truth, she has to resort to listening closely, watching carefully, and piecing things together herself. Eavesdropping may be impolite, but ignorance is far worse. What begins as a tense arrangement slowly shifts into something unexpected. Bound by proximity and circumstance, the boys and her form an uneasy friendship. But when Veronica's father makes a critical deal with his boss, loyalties are tested and the fragile balance between them begins to crack. As feelings she never intended to have grow stronger for a certain someone, Veronica is forced to confront a question she can no longer avoid: how much is she willing to risk for the truth? And most of all, for her heart? *** ! I started writing this book about two years ago, back when my English skills were still in need of much development. This book is currently under 'renovation' as I have since grown noticeably as a writer, but aside from grammar fixes and sentence reconstructions nothing will change. The plot will remain the same. !
