Hello everybody! :D This is my first book and i thought i'd post it on here to see what poeple think about it, so if you see anything that needs changing or tweaking, please let me know. :)

perhaps just the beginning.

Where once trees towered over grass, buildings now reign over kingdoms of tarmac and concrete. The world is drowning in the weight of its over population and all borders have been shut. In a world where the existence of nature is a fairy tale and humanity is on the brink of becoming a myth, is there hope of escaping a suffocating society? Sixteen-year old Ave and three of her friends attempt to escape the UK under the illusion of hope for a better life, fueled by the spirit of Finley, one of their best friends, who is driven by his will to survive.

I'm not pretty or the perfect weight or have the nicest things, even though many people would think I did with my dad owning his own business. I've got some problems at home and my sisters pretty dependent on me, but what can I do, other than take it all in my stride? But I'm just me, with some added attitude. So why did the new hot teacher come for me? I'm Scott Myer, just out of uni and got a brand new job. Hopefully this job will keep me straight headed so I can have back the only thing I want from back home. I've started today and already I'm falling back into my old ways, hopefully teaching in the new school can keep me on track for once... So why when I see my tutor class for morning registration, do I see one girl, that I can't seem to get out of my head? And why do I keep coming for her? This is my first book so you might see a few mistakes, but I do try to go over my work as best as possible. The year is 2098 and the world has been inhabitable 3 times in the past century due to not-so-natural disasters, but the human race bounced back every time. After surviving in an underwater bunker for 15 years, 5 young adults are sent out to scope out the land to start over. Again. Three soldiers-one of them being the daughter of the Chief of North America-and two scientists began their journey feeling more or less hopeful about the road ahead. But less than 48 hours after stepping onto the surface, they realize it's not as safe as they thought and there are enemies-dead and alive-lurking in every corner. - AN: Obviously it's still a work in progress, but I'm hoping to get some comments and feedback about what I have so far so maybe I can one day publish when it's done. I also have plot lines for two other books that take place years after this one ends so it's a possible trilogy! I edited some things along the way but never really reviewed it as a whole so there may be some inconsistencies so let me know if you see any or any plot holes. I'm also open to suggestions. Although the planet has liquid water and a breathable atmosphere, it is believed to host only microbial life. However, upon arriving, Shawn and the rest of the colonists learn that assumption was grossly incorrect. In a brutal attack from rampaging wildlife, everyone but Shawn and four other colonists are killed. The five survivors retreat to the cavernous network beneath the ground seeking safety, but they soon come to a terrible discovery. These caves aren't ordinary caves, and they are no safer down under than they were on the surface. [][][] This was originally my entry for the 2021 Open Novella Contest, and it received an honorable mention! It has now been expanded into a full length novel. I used prompt number 53: "When wildlife starts rampaging, all the humans are forced underground. However, they come to a terrible discovery that being underground is no safer than being on the surface."
