Frozen

Monique Vale knows exactly what the Capitol expects from District Two.
Strength. Discipline. Obedience.

At sixteen, Monique has spent her entire life surrounded by stone, steel, and weapons. She knows how to hold a blade before she knows how to hold a pen. She knows how to fight, how to keep her mouth shut, and how to survive the kind of poverty the Capitol prefers not to acknowledge.

Then her name is called.

Monique's younger brother, Elias, is only fourteen.

And when she looks across the crowd and sees him standing beside their father, she makes a decision without saying a word:

She will come home.

The Capitol has other plans.

The arena waiting for Monique is unlike anything Panem has ever seen-a frozen wasteland of glaciers, forests trapped beneath ice, frozen lakes, and endless white storms. Within hours, tributes begin dying from exposure.

Within days, the Games become a race against death itself.

Monique learns to use the very weapons she grew up around in ways she never imagined, carving a bloody path through the ice with a knife in one hand and a sword in the other. But every kill brings her closer to becoming exactly what the Capitol wants her to be.

And the colder the arena becomes, the more Monique begins to suspect something is wrong.

The Gamemakers aren't waiting for the tributes to die.

They're making sure they do.
