You were not prepared to instantly match with a man who's intellectual messages immediately spark your interest, and certainly not for the way he boldly yet politely sweeps you off your feet and makes you reconsider your norms and values of dating. Is he really able to win your heart over in just a mere 24 hours after matching?

The idea for this story somehow sparked when I read someone their view on Sleep Token's song Aqua Regia as a lament to online dating - "silicon ballrooms" being used as a metaphor for how courting and finding love in society's earlier ballrooms in the nineteenth century have changed to online dating chats in the present - silicon is the core chemical element used to manufacture chips in phones and computers.
Aqua regia (the only liquid known for being able to dissolve and extract gold) was explained for dissolving the valuable gold from chips used in phones, a metaphor for extracting something worthy from online dating - or ending up with something disappointing or toxic when the chemistry is wrong.
I don't know if it makes sense, but I liked the way the person explained it, haha.

If you stepped out of line, you died, end of story. Even if the rich were still under their control, their lives were still better than the poor. The poorest lives held a much worse fate. The men were to be put to work as slaves, whether that meant serving a specific vampire, or just building their castles, they were slaves. The women were to be pets. Pets were the lowest rank you could have. They were forced into cages that were too small to stand in with collars around their necks. They spent their lives in pet shops, just waiting for the dreadful day that they'll be bought. They were treated like animals, trained into what their master wanted, and punished if they misbehaved. Those who were lucky enough to live through that, we're to be slaughtered for their blood at age twenty-five in an act to make sure that our population would stay steady. I was born into this world. Born into this world full of blood-sucking monsters. Except, I was one of the lucky ones. Was.
