Three Alarms

Mia Kane has spent most of her life learning how to survive.

Trained from childhood to become something the world was never supposed to know existed, she eventually walked away from that life and built a new one as a New York detective.

At least, that was the plan.

A random assignment sends Mia straight into Chicago's Intelligence Unit-and straight back into the life of the one man she never expected to see again: Hank Voight, the man she calls Dad.

Now she's working alongside Jay Halstead, a detective whose protective nature, sharp mouth, and undeniable chemistry with Mia make keeping things professional harder than it should be.

Then there's Kelly Severide.

Firehouse 51's lieutenant has his own way of getting under Mia's skin, and the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to pretend the attraction isn't there.

Jay and Kelly were never supposed to become part of the same story.

Neither was Mia.

But somewhere between dangerous cases, late-night calls, firehouse shifts, secrets from Mia's past, and the scars she's spent years hiding, three people begin to realize that what they're building isn't something that fits neatly into the rules they've always lived by.

Mia came to Chicago looking for a normal life.

Instead, she found family.

She found danger.

She found two men who refuse to let her face either alone.

And eventually, they all have to decide what happens when love doesn't look the way they expected it to.

**Three people. Two worlds. One story.**

Welcome to Chicago.
