Beneath the Canopy

Neteyam Sully has spent his whole life learning how to carry the weight of being the eldest-the first to obey, the first to protect, and the last to admit when the burden becomes too heavy. Ay'li te Veyranu has spent hers quietly caring for the Omatikaya from the edges, weaving beauty with her hands, listening to Eywa with her heart, and never believing someone like her could be worth noticing. But Neteyam does notice. He notices the medicine left beside Kiri's hammock, the necklace repaired for Tuk, and the armband mysteriously returned to him with every broken thread carefully rewoven. Soon, he begins noticing her-the quiet girl beneath the canopy who gives pieces of herself to everyone and asks for nothing in return. And when Neteyam realizes that no one seems to take care of Ay'li, he decides that maybe he will. In the heart of Pandora's forest, beneath glowing leaves and the watchful presence of Eywa, two gentle souls will discover that sometimes love doesn't arrive like thunder-it grows quietly, like roots beneath the earth, until one day you realize it has been there all along.
