Victoria Manu, a free-spirited, bad ass girl gets asked to be the schools football team assistant medic. She doesn't realize that by signing up she signed up for one heck of a ride! From pranks to bets to near death experiences she has the time of her life. She makes new friends and with the help of her over protective brother and already close to besties they help her realize that there's nothing to be afraid of, especially when it comes to love.
Que Alex Porter, a head strong young man who knows what he wants. The lead lineman on the team and quarter back wants nothing to do with the new medic, expect if he's dying, which he isn't. Only to prank her with the rest of the boys and have fun with that little curly-haired girl. He's known her all through high school and they have never really been close friends and he's been fine with that, but soon he's going to have to keep telling himself just that.
The Lindell Lions will have to keep on trucking and will soon find out what true friendship means, even if that means losing a few on the way. The boys will also figure out that if you mess with the wrong girl, prepare yourself for hell on earth, but will love her anyway, and those that mess with her, well prepare yourself for some pain. Stay on the ride with the team and you too may learn something new. You'll cry, you'll most definitely laugh and who knows? Fall in love? It's magical, who knows what will happen.

I was screaming even louder thinking I was going to die. But then I landed in somebody's arms. I reacted quickly and punched the guy in the face. He let go of his grip on me and I started running only to be grabbed by another person. I kicked the person in the shin and then stomped on his left foot making him lose his balance. "They are taking him away from here, did you know that?" she said. I pretended as if I didn't care, and I leaned hard on the call button for the elevator. "You are his younger brother I am guessing," she said. "If I were you, I would be feeling pretty upset, confused, possibly angry, and maybe even a little scared," she said......a lump was forming in my throat; I closed my eyes to thwart the tears that were forming. I exhaled long and hard. "I am betting your parents are a little confused too, and they probably haven't told you much about what is actually happening with your brother," she said. Richard's journey from adolescents to adulthood went horribly off track the year his older brother was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Richard was only in the eighth grade. Brother's Keeper tells the story of young Richard's inability to deal with losing his older brother to a mental illness, while at the same time struggling to handle the other obstacles in his own life. With his parents focused on his older brother's mental illness, Richard is forced to grow up fast and deal with the issues in his life all on his own. Making the transition from middle school to high school, learning about girls, coping with childhood obesity, dealing with racism, feelings of alienation, and strict parents are just some of the problems Richard must overcome alone; that is until a surrogate older brother steps in. ***Brother's Keeper is my first attempt at writing a novel. Previously all of my works have been short stories or poems. After some modest success in the #EWA2017 General Fiction category, I've decided to make some minor edits and repost the original chapters along with some of the later chapters . The corner of his mouth tilts upward slightly. I smile again. A smile!? A tiny one, but still. "Hm. So I got you to smile, that's progress, yeah? Can I get your name now?" I ask, swinging my feel a little. He shakes his head shyly, his mouth not moving at all. Geez! Why do I want to hear this dude talk so much? "Okay, that's fine. I can give you a nickname." I offer happily. He looks up from his book, raising his eyebrows. I just stare for a moment. He has nice eyes. Pretty brown chocolate orbs. They remind me so much of....... "Teddy." He shakes his head immediately, frowning. "What, why not? You remind me of my old teddy bear. He was a good listener and he didn't talk much..... just like you." I say softly, tilting my head. He continues to shake his head. I fold my arms, leaning back in my seat. "Yeah, it's definitely sticking. Teddy.....It has a nice ring to it, yeah?" He sighs, the first sound I have ever heard him make. "No." . . . *Jordan* Teddy!? Seriously!? She gave me a fucking NICKNAME!? What the hell does this girl want!? I stuff my hands into my pockets, walking down the busy street. Forget about her. She's just a annoying pretty girl, she'll go away. Everybody does. She HAS to go away. *Spoiler alert*: she doesn't. Anthony stops at my bare shoulder and leans down to press a hot kiss onto the skin. "You can't say things like that.." He delivers another, this one to my collarbone and making my words grow weak, unconvincing ... even as they come from my own mouth. "We're supposed to be ... friends." Anthony is quiet at first, the only response I get being his free hand drifting over to cage my body into the small space between us. "I know .." He trails off. It goes dead silent for a second. "But I ... don't think that's enough for me, B." There's a sharp breath from me at the words and a flush of heat to my cheeks when Anthony pushes my hair over my shoulder. His actions expose me to him, showing off my bare shoulders in a way that's downright indecent as the straps pulled down now hang loosely off my arms. "I don't want .. to be just a friend to you." And then, there's another kiss to pair. Although it isn't a simple peck this time. It's an actual kiss now, slow and softly pressed onto my neck. Beatrix thought she'd never trust another guy again. After being burned, both physically and emotionally by her ex-boyfriend Rudy in her senior year of high school, Beatrix's trust in people is low. That is, until she transfers to the esteemed, private Highland University. It's a fresh start to give the girl what she wants most: A shot at normalcy. The plan is simple .. just keep her head down, study her ass off, try to become a functional person once again and hopefully make one friend or two. Everything was supposed to start over that year.
