There was a boy curled against the dirty brick wall, crying softly into his shaking arms. The scent of fire and ash was pungent around him, but to Izuku, it only made him more curious.
He'd never been so close to a human before, much less one that smelled so strange.
He must have made a sound, because the young human's face snapped up, staring directly at where he was hidden with multicolored eyes.
"Who's there," his voice called out, quivering towards the end.
Izuku sat there for a moment, remembering the warnings his family gave him while teaching him how to live. They said to stay away from big humans though. This was different. This small one was crying. Izuku didn't like crying.
And so the tiny dragon took a step- and then another- until he was fully facing the ashy-smelling child.
