Lord Of The Rings
In Fellowship of the Ring, we read: “Their farewells had been said in the great hall by the fire, and they were only waiting now for Gandalf, ... Bilbo huddled in a cloak stood silent on the doorstep beside Frodo. Aragorn sat with his head bowed to his knees; only Elrond knew fully what this hour meant to him.” What did Tolkien mean by that line? What did that hour, that moment mean to Aragorn? What was going through his head? What did Elrond know that no other did? This vignette is my interpretation of the moment. I first posted this story to the HASA story archive and later submitted to and won the 2007 MEFA Award. Much of that award was a result of my beta-extraordinaire Thundera Tiger. She was vital to this story even being written, not to mention its quality. She is priceless!

An Elleth named Alvena Baggins has grown up with Bilbo Baggins. Her whole life believing she was an unusual and strange Hobbit. Alvena is tired of the relaxed life in the Shire with Bilbo, she craved for real adventure other than the errands her relatives and neighbors send her on which was only running to the other side of the Shire, She was tired of just jumping over the small fences of the shire she wanted to jump over boulders and waterfalls, she was tired of riding ponies she wanted to ride a war steed. Alvena wanted everything a warrior could get. Even though she never used or touched a single weapon in her whole life except for a shovel she imagined to be a sword. Alvena's wish was about to happen when one faithful day Gandalf the Grey stops by with some strange dwarves and offers Bilbo an Adventure of a lifetime. Alvena dreamed of going thus she made a deal with the dwarves and Gandalf that if she persuaded Bilbo to come then she could also come with them. When Alvena gets the Journey she always dreamed of she never imagined she would go through hardships, painful experiences and breath taking moments and most of all she didn't imagine she would fall in love. but would he love her back? And lastly would Alvena know who she truly is or will she only know herself as Alvena Baggins the unusual and strange Hobbit? Disclaimer: I do not own any of the works of JRR Tolkien. I only borrowed them for my own pleasure. I do own Alvena, the red Kingdom, and her parents.
