The Land of an Absent Sun

The Second World War has set the world ablaze in an inferno of death and destruction. It is hell on Earth. A young German soldier by the name of Friedhelm Strauss is soon to join this conflagration of brutality, as he is sent to the Eastern Front to assist the occupation of the Ukrainian territory held by the Wehrmacht. He has heard some stories from the mouths of veterans about the Ostfront: the partisans, the cold, the ferocity of the fighting Russians-none of which, however, have yet undermined his morale or support for his nation. It is here he will truly feel war, in its purest, most brutal essence, as well as meet the one that will give him his only incentive to trudge forward. Here, he will be torn between duty as a soldier and feeling as a human. His experiences will be tests of bravery, enmity, and humanity, all of which can be broken by the waves of war. Ultimately, the boy will be sang by the blood and hardship a hard truth: there is no glory in war.
