"Nikolai heard the sound of a door closing. He let out a long breath and turned his attention to Kitara's blood. Her blood was beautiful in a way blood is usually not. The magic made these little colourful rainbows giving a glittery appearance that his trained eye could catch. It flowed with the potential of something great. It seemed to hold little drops of light. Irradiant. That was the only word he could think of to describe it."
Kitara thought that she had a best friend just so she look normal. She and her friend, Rowena, had an understanding that they would never pry into each others life if they could help it. But the world has more secrets than one can imagine and sometimes the secret worlds can't remain secret for long.
Kitara learns her friend belongs to a group of magic users in hiding. Every human is capable of little magic and can enter that world but Kitara is one of those rare humans in discord. She has to now live in a world where she might never belong.
