My eyes land on the hospital bill in my hand, and I slowly lick my lips.

"Oh, fuck." I whisper, and slowly reach a shaking hand out to steady myself. $78,000 dollars? I didn't have a quarter of that.

"Are you okay, Jasmine?" a tiny voice peeps from behind me, and I turn around to see my little sister clutching her teddy bear in the door way. "Y-yeah. I'm fine." I say brightly, and I wince. Even I could hear the despair in my voice.

Lacey falls for it, and smiles at me, giving me a hug. "Okay, Jaz. Love you."

"Love you...love you too." I clear my throat halfway through, the hospital bill still crumbled in my hands.
