Four years ago Kade's parabatai left the clave when the war of the Seelie Court and the Shadowhunters began. Now she's back in New York with her adoptive family, staying at the New York Institute. Kade has to try to cope with loosing the person that was supposed to be her partner for life while fighting a war she had no choice in. When her long time rival Will Herondale, son of Clary and Jace, takes an interest in her she also has to fight a connection that could could put her heart in jeopardy, because if there's anything Kade can't take any more of, its heartbreak.

This happens after the city of heavenly fire.(In the Mortal Instruments series) She walks in gracefully and says with so much venom, that I flinch, "Sit down and listen." I obey, sensing a very wrong and dangerous vibe from her. She continues, "I am Ms. Smith but you will call me madam." I reply, "And I am Clar-" "I know who you are if not why would I have summoned that demon to kidnap you," she interrupts, glaring at me. I am shocked, why would this lady kidnap me.
