This day couldn't get any worse. Maybe I just needed to get away for awhile, take a flight anywhere. Maybe I could go to that food fair in Cali like I wanted. Glancing over my shoulder all that can be seen is the shadow of a stranger that for once I hadn't given my name. Had I lost a shoe this could have been a modern day Cinderella, oh well. My body swaying to Chance, I continued my walk home in the chilly fall weather my brother seemed to love so much. I'm gonna need an extra hoodie or something tomorrow.

I felt an ice cold tear spill down my pink and flustered cheeks and as it did I reached up and wiped it away with the sleeve of my hoodie. I dared to glance a look to my left and saw Jamie watching me. We locked eyes, he smiled and then looked away, but I couldn't bring myself to stop staring. His deep brown eyes were a daydream and his shoulder length hair a... trap for destruction. No, I couldn't let myself go there. I was just setting myself up to be hurt... again. I've had enough of that for a lifetime.
