The first thing I saw when I woke up was his eyes. Glowing, crimson red beads with two black holes for pupils, staring me down as if I were his next meal. I could feel the heat from the comforter over my body combined with the summer heat wash over me, and the eyes appeared to aid in this practice.
My throat was scratchy and dry, opposite of the room, which was humid and moist. The cries for help were barely audible, and I couldn't hear them myself, but it appeared that being with the death eyes could.
I could feel my heart beating out of my chest as it walked towards me with a sureness of step and a strange gracefulness that made me question the motive. He reached my bedside and bent down, his lips very smooth, but cold against my ear. Incense wafted from him and into my nose, filling it with a sweet, calming smell that kept me wanting more. The being opens his mouth, then speaks in a voice like silk, "Check on your reflection."
