Years after his father's disappearance, Seth and his family continue struggling to get food on the table. To top their problems, a fatal disease, competent of killing hundreds a day, hits their hometown. 

But when Seth and his sister stumble across the beautiful, yet dangerous realm of Alaisia, he wishes relentlessly to return to that simple life. 

The Alaisians wish to prevent him from leaving, and he soon learns he has somehow acquired countless enemies that will not only affect him in this strange other universe, but in his own world as well.

As Seth hassles to protect his sister while staying alive and grappling with the will of the Alaisianas, he begins to realize that this fantastical world could be the answer to all his problems, and the introduction to a flood of new ones.
